Student Parking Permits

Parking Permits are required from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Vehicles must display the appropriate parking zone permit; unless parked at an activated parking meter or in a hourly pay lot.
Permit Placement
Permits must be displayed on the bottom of the passenger-side windshield of the vehicle.

Parking permits are the property of Transportation. Parking permits, replacement permits and/or temporary permits may not be given, traded, sold, or borrowed. If you are the permitholder on record, you are responsible for any violations incurred whether on your vehicle or others.

Safety Concerns

Are our parking lots "safe?" Statistically, campus has relatively low crime - most crimes are "crimes of opportunity." Our parking lots are well lighted and campus is patrolled by our campus police. You can reduce your risk by ALWAYS locking your vehicle. Secondly, don't leave any valuable items on the car seats (in plain sight). If you must leave valuables in your vehicle, lock them in the trunk.

Fall Parking Permits

Students may apply for parking and request the desired parking permit during fall course registration on MyPack Portal (unity I.D. required).

Note: Application on MyPack Portal is NOT for spring or summer parking permits which are purchased via online sale.

Permit application is required but does NOT guarantee permit offer. Parking permits are assigned based on:

1) student classification and
2) availability of parking spaces

Freshmen are encouraged to apply for parking in case permits remain after fulfilling upper classmen demand.

Before entering MyPack Portal please familiarize yourself with the different Permit Zones and Eligibility Requirements for students. Be sure to have your current vehicle information (including insurance) on hand, as well.

Fall permits are offered for purchase in mid/late summer. If we have a permit to offer you, fall permit assignment information will be e-mailed to your address on file with Registration and Records. (It is your responsibility to ensure this email address is correct and check it frequently.) Payment instructions and deadlines are in the e-mail message.

Please note: If you do not receive an email offering you a permit assignment, you will need to investigate other parking options (commuters - Wolfline/park and ride; residents - private parking providers.)

Summer Parking Permits

Summer permits are available for online sale beginning the first Monday in May. They are prorated and valid for the entire summer (remainder of the academic year - mid August). Transportation does not sell permits for each summer session.

Note: Students who currently have a valid NC State parking permit do not need to purchase a summer parking permit, unless they wish to upgrade for the summer. If you wish to upgrade your current parking permit for the summer, after the last day of exams, turn in your current permit at the Transportation office and pay the difference in cost of the permit.

Greek Court Permits

Students who are members of a Fraternity or Sorority at Greek Court may purchase an F permit during online open sale. There is no registration/application process as ample parking exists in this location.

Exam Parking Permits

Exam permits may be purchased from the Transportation Office, Administrative Services I, 2721 Sullivan Drive beginning the Friday prior to exams.

Resident students may purchase an EM permit for $2/day in the West Lot (EM zone). Commuters may purchase a permit for the DC zone (Coliseum Deck) or DD (Dan Allen Deck) for $2/day as space allows.

Alternative parking is also available in the Dan Allen Deck Pay Lot or the Coliseum Deck Pay Lot for $1 per hour or $6 per day.

The Wolfline will continue with normal routes and schedules during the exam period.

Parking Permit Refund

Graduating? Congratulations!
Winter graduates may return permits to the Transportation office in mid-December for a prorated refund. Spring graduates may return their permit by the end of May for a prorated refund. The office is located at 2721 Sullivan Drive, Administrative Services I. Please allow two to three business weeks to process and receive your refund check.
