General Information

All students should apply for a parking permit while registering for fall courses on MyPack Portal. Transportation receives housing information for both On-Campus and Off-Campus students through NC State University Registration & Records. Students must ensure their email and mailing address are current and must update these addresses through Registration & Records if they change.

Yearly Application
Current permit holders must apply each year for a permit for the upcoming academic year - permits do not automatically rollover.

Students can request the type of permit for which they are eligible. However, assignment will be based on student classification and availability. If you choose not to purchase the permit assigned to you, your next opportunity to purchase a permit will be during online open sale of remaining permits. Pay close attention to payment deadlines; your permit will be offered to the next eligible student if you do not make full payment for your assigned permit by the payment deadline date communicated to you via email. In most cases, the initial permit offered is the most desirable.

The Wolfline provides service to all the NC State campuses.

Resident Students - What permit should I request?

West Campus:
Resident students living on West Campus (area west of Dan Allen Drive) are eligible for "DW" and "S" and "SC" permits. The "S" (Storage) permit allows parking in the Varsity Parking Lot near the Marcom/Gorman Street intersection; "SC" is storage parking located on Centennial Campus.

East Campus:
Resident students living on East Campus (area east of Dan Allen Drive) are eligible for "DE" and "S" permits. The "S" (Storage) permit allows parking in the Varsity Parking Lot near the Marcom/Gorman Street intersection; "SC" is storage parking located on Centennial Campus.

Wolf Village:
Residents of Wolf Village are eligible to apply for an "F" or "S" parking permit. The "F" permit provides proximity parking and will be assigned as the first choice for Wolf Village residents, depending on availability. The "S" (Storage) permit allows parking in the Varsity Parking Lot near the Marcom/Gorman Street intersection.

E.S. King Village: Students living at E.S. King Village are eligible for "F" or "EC" permits. ("EC" allows parking in the "E" zones on Centennial Campus only, as well as the "F" zone adjacent to E.S. King Village).

Fraternity Court/Aventy Ferry:
Residents are eligible for "F" permits.

Commuting Students - What permit should I request?

Commuting students are eligible for "DC", "DD", "D", "EM" (Main Campus) "EC" (Centennial Campus) and "L" permits. ("L" permit is a "Non-Peak" permit and is valid from 7 - 9 a.m. and 2 - 5 p.m. in "DC," "DD," "EM" and "EC" zones.) Please note, the former park and ride lot located at Centennial Campus will be rezoned "EC" effective fall, 2006.

Priority zone permits ("DD" and "DC") are issued based on seniority and will be issued to upperclassmen. If your permit choice is unavailable, you will be issued an alternative permit zone. Failure to purchase the assigned permit will result in the permit being reissued to someone else.

Commuting College of Veterinary Medicine and graduate level Toxicology students are eligible for a "C" permit.

Parking Information for Freshmen

Resident and commuting freshmen are eligible, and are encouraged to register for parking permits when registering for courses on MyPack Portal. However, permits are issued based on seniority and space availability. In the event permits are available after offering them to upper classmen, freshmen will be given the opportunity to purchase them. Freshmen will be notified via their email address on file with Registration & Records. Depending on the demographics of a student's residence hall (location on campus, breakdown of freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors), some freshmen may be offered a permit near their residence. More typically, freshmen are offered a storage lot permit.

For more information visit the freshman parking information Web page.

Residents of University Towers and College Inn are NOT eligible for parking permits.
