What parking permit should I request?
Remember to apply for a permit at the same time you register for
fall classes in MyPack Portal or apply
here.
Different parking permits are available depending your class level
and whether you’re a commuting or resident student.
Commuters: Individuals who DO NOT reside in University Housing.
Resident Students: Individuals who reside in University Housing.
University Towers Residents/College Inn: Residents
of these non-University affiliated housing complexes are ELIGIBLE
for storage permits (EC - Centennial Campus).
COMMUTING graduate and doctoral students enjoy
the most parking options. They may choose “DC” (Coliseum
Deck - main campus), Partners Way Deck, and Monteith Research Deck
(both located on Centennial Campus).
- Choose “DD” (Dan Allen Deck) for proximity to the
western part of main campus.
- An “EM” permit allows parking in the West Lot (main
campus).
- Choose “EC” to park in all "E" zoned
parking spaces in Centennial Campus lots (note this permit does
not allow parking on main campus).
COMMUTING seniors and juniors may apply for “DC,”
“EC,” or “EM” permits. Juniors will be offered
any remaining “DC” permits based on availability AFTER
senior and graduate demand has been met.
COMMUTING sophomores may apply for “EM” or “EC” permits.
COMMUTING freshmen may apply for “EM,”
“EC” or "V (Varsity Lot) permits. Once all sophomore
and above demand has been met, freshmen will be offered permits
based on computer-generated random selection. (Commuting freshmen
not offered permits are encouraged to use nearby Park & Ride
Lots served by the Wolfline bus – visit www.ncsu.edu/wolfline
for more information).
RESIDENT seniors, juniors and sophomores should apply for “Closest to Residence Hall” (Transportation downloads your Housing information and will assign your permit type based on that information) or Varsity Storage Lot (“S”). Resident student permits (“DE” and “DW” permits) are sold one-for-one (no oversell). Seniority is the assignment criteria; upper-class students receive priority.
RESIDENT freshmen may apply for “Closest
to Residence Hall” – described above) or Varsity Storage
Lot (“S”). No freshmen permits will be assigned
until EARLY AUGUST. In early August remaining permits
will be assigned to freshmen based on computer-generated random
selection. Close proximity resident permits (“DE/DW”)
will be assigned based upon space availability. The remaining applicants
will be assigned “S” Varsity Storage Lot based on space
availability.
RESIDENT students residing in WOLF VILLAGE, AVENT
FERRY, FRATERNITY COURT AND ES KING VILLAGE are eligible for an
“F” permit, which is the closest proximity permit for
these areas. Students should choose “Closest to Residence.”
GREEK AFFILIATED students are eligible to purchase the “F” permit (even if the student is not housed on Greek Court). Housing/Greek Life provides verification of affiliation to Transportation.
OPEN SALES
An online open sale of permits is held IF PERMITS ARE AVAILABLE
after initial assignments. Normally, an open sale takes place beginning
the Wednesday prior to semester class startup. The only permits
sold are: “F, “S,” “EM,” and “EC”and
"V." Numbers are limited. Commuter/Resident status
still applies during open sale.
