Departmental Parking Permits

Departments may purchase parking permits for vehicles that park on campus. Permits will be issued based on the need and use of the vehicle. Departments may use Service Unit Billing for payment of permits. Service Unit Billing CANNOT be used to purchase individual employee permits.

Guest Permits

Departments may purchase permits online for their invited guests. Departments may also authorize invited guests to purchase a parking permit online. For more information, contact David Gregory david_gregory@ncsu.edu

Departmental Permit Choices

SV – Service Vehicle Parking Permit
Definition: Parking proximate to campus buildings/facilities to provide parking for service vehicles used to provide maintenance and/or repair to campus buildings, equipment and/or infrastructure.
Eligibility: Government licensed vehicles owned/leased by campus departments only.
Operation: Maintain current inventory of proximate SV spaces. Review locations for spaces used primarily for storage of service vehicles and designate SV/UV.

SP – Service Provider Parking Permit
Definition: Anyone who provides maintenance and/or repair to campus buildings, equipment and/or infrastructure.
Eligibility:: For purchase/use by individuals whose work meets the definition above, but utilizes a non-government licensed vehicle (including personal vehicles) or is not affiliated with campus.
Operation: Permit provides access to any designated SV space.

UV – University Vehicle Parking Permit
Definition: Any type of department owned/leased state-licensed vehicle that is used for any purpose other than providing service. Replaces the current AV designation.
Eligibility: Government-licensed vehicles owned/leased by campus departments.
Operation: Convert existing AV space clusters; add new clusters where the demand exists. Increase the number of Loading/Unloading spaces proximate to building clusters, primarily by reducing/eliminating the single AV spaces currently proximate to buildings.

UD – Universal Departmental Use Parking Permit
Definition: A department purchased permit that can be loaned to staff, grad students or others on a temporary “as needed” basis in order to accomplish the department mission.
Eligibility: The only permit a department may purchase for private owner vehicle use except private owner vehicles exempted via the Service Provider (SP) policy noted above. Not available for government licensed vehicles. Replaces the current policy that encourages AV/SV purchase and use.
Operation: Provides access to all unreserved zone spaces EXCEPT resident zones (RE and RW).

Load/Unload Permit/Gate Card combo hangtag - Save Money!
Definition: Permit issued to departments to facilitate short-term loading and unloading needs
Eligibility: Department Heads may request one (1) at no charge permit for department use. Additional permits available for purchase at a $25 annual fee.
Operation: Authorizes access to designated 30-minute time-limited loading and unloading spaces. And, if displayed on a government-licensed vehicle, allows clustered parking on top level of Dan Allen Deck and/or Hillsborough Square with no additional permit required. Intended to provide and encourage clustering of state-licensed vehicles in lower demand parking areas.

To request Departmental permits, complete the online form and enter the type and number of departmental permits needed, and the appropriate Project Code number to be billed. Please Note: Transportation's account number is displayed on the letter sent to all departmental contacts (above your name).
