What is a Listserv?
An Internet List, or listserv, is as an interest group in which
any member may send a message to all others. List groups exist for
a very, very large number of topics of all types, including social
science and public administration topics. Messages cover discussion
letters, professional papers, resource listings, conference and
job announcements, and technical queries and advice. Joining a list
is one way to keep up with happenings in a field of interest to
you.
Listserv is by far the most popular internet list software. A
"listserv" refers both to this software and to the computer center
which runs the software, which is essentially an automated e-mail
program. Note there is no "e" at the end of "listserv."
