Basic principles of community nutrition programming: development and assessment; nutrient requirements and nutritional concerns during pregnancy, lactation, childhood, adolescence and aging; examples of age-specific community nutrition programs and their effectiveness. Students will apply course concepts throughout the semester in community-based service-learning projects. Twenty hours of service is required. Students are expected to provide and pay for their own transportation for the community service, which will be in the greater Raleigh area.
