CAMPERS INSURANCE

Can my department participate in the accidental/medical camper program?

YES. You can add your camp attendees onto the campers policy if your camp is an NCSU sponsored camp.

What does the camper policy cover?

There are two separate policies, one for “overnight” camps and one for “day” camps. Effective 1/5/11, the “overnight” camper policy provides accident insurance up to a limit of $25,000 and a sickness limit of $5,000. The “day” camp policy provides accident insurance up to a limit of $25,000, but excludes sickness.

How much is the premium to add my department’s program to the policy?

The “overnight” rate is $ .30 per person, per day. The “day camp” rate is $ .18 per person, per day.  When you request the camp, you should indicate the number of campers anticipated. Two days after your camp ends, you will send the attendance report and only pay for the actual number that attended.

Who pays the insurance premium for my department’s campers program?

The department is responsible for the premium. IRM will send you a camper package with all the necessary forms. The forms include a pre-authorization for you to complete with the account number and signature, giving IRM permission to debit your account for the total premium by use of an IDT.

What do I need to do to add my department’s camp to the policy?

Simply e-mail IRM requesting camper coverage. In the e-mail show the camp name, date of your camp, brief description of the camp, indicate if it is an overnight or day camp, number of campers you anticipate, and the number of counselors you want covered.

What do I do if a camper is hurt or becomes sick?

During university business hours, Student Health has agreed to see your camp attendees. After hours, the person needs to be taken to the nearest emergency care center or hospital. As soon as possible, provide IRM with a completed claim form, and any bills related to the incident, and we will forward the claim to Hartford for payment. Remember, no sickness coverage is provided on the “day” camp policy.
