Genomic Science Faculty

Approximately 125 current NC State University faculty have incorporated genomic science into their programs of research or teaching. Initially, four dozen faculty will comprise the core Genomic Science Faculty; however, the number of participating faculty is expected to grow as the program becomes established. Graduate faculty in the Colleges of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Forest Resources, Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Veterinary Medicine and other colleges who engage in genomic science research and/or teaching may become members of the Genomic Science Faculty. New members of the faculty will be nominated by a member of the Genomic Science Faculty (see list below) and upon a majority vote of the faculty be recommended for appointment by the Dean of the Graduate School. Nominations of faculty who are not currently on the Genomic Science Faculty are encouraged. The deadline for nominations for faculty additions by Spring Semester 2000 is December 1, 1999.

Nomination process:

Nominators should send a copy of the nominee's c.v. and a nominating letter to the Dr. Stephanie Curtis, Director of Genomic Science Graduate Programs, Box 7614, NCSU Campus. The nominating letter should address the nominee's qualifications for the program including:

  • Relevance of research or teaching area to genomic science
  • Experience in graduate student training*
  • Funding history*
  • Research productivity
*For junior faculty early in their careers, the potential for graduate student training or funding can be described
