Faculty and Staff Reports : Trend reports line up multiple years together in simpler tables. Individual year reports include breakouts with more detail for occupational activity, gender and race/ethnicity counts, as well as organization, faculty rank, and other useful taxonomies.
Over the last 10 years the definition for administrators and for faculty has changed at the request of UNC-GA and the IPEDS system. In 2002-03 the definition of full-time instructional faculty broadened to include activities of research and extension funding. Administrators increased in 2002 from approximately 170 to over 400, also by change in definition.
The career banding effort in the SPA classifications has changed some positions between professional and technical and clerical. Banding has been going for several years and is nearing completion.
In 2008 and 2009 the JCAT taxonomy was introduced by UNC-GA. Placing people and positions into JCAT definitions changed quite a few assignments, see the Summary 6-year table which shows where these issues are in the report. The count of administrators and professional staff changed the most, while technical and clerical staff definitions also changed. The definition of faculty did not change. The 2009 to 2011 definitions are stable.
In 2011, the Cooperative Extension Service field faculty and employees were added to the on-campus counts by request of UNC-GA. These are listed in a separate row or column on the 2011 tables.
Introduction and Definitions, includes description of Occupational Activity codes and others.
