MOCA Items Collected Outside Systems
The Delaware MOCA data collection will need the direct help of faculty to collect information for items not available in existing central systems.
It is expected that faculty will track these items for their annual reports and be able to enter the information into the web collection screen in the spring semester. Use the annual reporting period defined by department and college. Some examples of 12-month period defined as a year are calendar, fiscal, and academic. As long as the annual period for a discipline is consistently defined over time the data collected here will be consistent.
These measures are listed by Delaware item number, the definition here is shorthand for the longer definition at this web address http://www.udel.edu/IR/focs/ and available as a PDF file locally.
There are two local definitions for blended instruction mode of delivery and undergraduate research at the end of this document.

- Undergraduate research is recognized as discovery-, inquiry- or creativity-based learning within our outside of the student's academic discipline. It may occur in a standard classroom, a teaching or research laboratory, the library, visual art studio, performing arts theater, or a field location. The student may earn credit, may volunteer to conduct the mentored research, or receive funding from a grant or fellowship to conduct research. The experience is considered important for gaining admission to graduate or professional schools, and for obtaining excellent employment.
