ClassEval Question Selection
FAQs
What questions are included on ClassEvals?
All ClassEvals include core university questions. In addition, college deans and department heads may add questions to the ClassEvals for all graduate and/or undergraduate courses taught in their college/department and instructors may add questions to specific course/sections they are teaching. To review the core university questions, go to
http://www2.acs.ncsu.edu/UPA/classeval/ClassEval.CoreQs.htm.
Can I add questions to a ClassEval?
If you are the college dean, department head, or instructor and your course is among those being evaluated, you are eligible to add questions. For more information about courses excluded from ClassEval, see
http://www2.acs.ncsu.edu/UPA/classeval/class_exclusions.htm.
Only
one instructor in a team-taught course may select questions for the ClassEval for that course/section. After one instructor has selected questions, the other instructor(s) will not be able to add or delete any questions for that course/section. If you are team-teaching a course and intend to add course-specific questions to the ClassEval for that course, you are strongly encouraged to consult with your colleague(s) before adding questions.
Is there a limit on the number of questions that can be included? Yes. In addition to the core university questions, colleges, departments, and instructors may add no more than
seven closed-end questions and
six open-end questions, combined. If the dean and/or head submit a total of seven closed-end question for, say, all undergraduate courses in a given department, the instructors in that department will not be able to add any unique closed-end questions to the ClassEval for their undergraduate courses.
When can I add questions to my ClassEval(s)?
Deans (or their designee) will be asked to select questions first, followed by department heads, followed by instructors. Through the online process heads will be made aware of the college-level questions that will be included on the ClassEvals for courses taught in their department, and instructors will be made aware of the college and/or department-level questions that will be included on the ClassEval for course(s) they are teaching. To get a idea of the general timeline, see the current ClassEval schedule at
http://www2.acs.ncsu.edu/UPA/classeval/stuschedule.htm.
Can I use the same questions I used in a previous semester?Sure. However, questions you used in a previous semester will NOT be automatically included on your ClassEvals. Rather, you must select these questions every semester you want them included on your ClassEvals. This is necessitated by the potential variability in the number of college- and department-level questions across semesters. You will be presented with any questions you used in previous semesters prior to being shown all available QBank questions.
Will questions I submitted to the QBank be automatically added my ClassEval(s)?No. If you submitted unique questions to be added to the Question Bank, these questions will not be automatically added to your ClassEvals. Rather, you must select these questions during the question selection phase of the ClassEval process. At that time, you will be presented with the questions you submitted to the QBank prior to being shown all available QBank questions. You do NOT need to have submitted questions to the QBank to select questions from it to use on your ClassEvals. For more information about the ClassEval QBank, see
http://www2.acs.ncsu.edu/UPA/classeval/faculty/QBankFAQs.htm.
What questions are currently available for use in the QBank? To see available questions, visit the online
QBank.
