awards three different grants ranging from $500,000 to $3,000,000.
These are awarded for work leading to the establishment of a national
digital library that will constitute an online network of learning
environments and resources for science, technology, engineering,
and mathematics (STEM) education at all levels
Academic
Exchange Quarterly. This is an independent
peer-reviewed journal that offers articles on effective instruction
and learning from around the world in multiple academic areas.
Australian Journal
of Educational Technology. This is a
refereed journal publishing research and review articles in educational
technology, instructional design, educational applications of
computer technologies, educational telecommunications, and related
areas.
Campus
Technology is a monthly magazine that replaced Syllabus
in 2004. Campus Technology focuses exclusively on the use of high
tech in higher education and provides a platform for advancing
IT solutions at the college level.
Interactive Multimedia Electronic
Journal of Computer-Enhanced Learning. IMEJ is a prototype
for an interactive multimedia electronic journal edited and produced
at Wake Forest University.
Journal
of Asynchronous Learning Networks. The aim of the
Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks is to describe original
work in asynchronous learning networks (ALN), including experimental
results. The mission is to provide practitioners in online education
with knowledge about the very best research in online learning.
Journal of Interactive
Media in Education. JIME is a freely
available e-journal, published since 1996, targeted at researchers
and practitioners interested in educational technology.
Journal
of Technology Education is an online journal available
through the Digital Library and Archives at Virginia Tech.
Student Affairs On-Line.
This is an on-line magazine related to technology and student
affairs.
Studies
in Learning, Evaluation, Innovation and Development
is a peer-reviewed electronic journal published at least once
a year by the LEID (Learning, Evaluation, Innovation and Development)
Centre, Division of Teaching and Learning Services, Central Queensland
University, Australia.
T.H.E. Journal (Technological
Horizons in Education) contains articles from educators
involved in integrating technology on their campuses and into
their curricula.
The Chronicle of
Higher Education. The Information technology section
contains resources related to technology and higher education.
The
Learning MarketSpace is an electronic newsletter published
quarterly by the Center for Academic Transformation that highlights
ongoing examples of redesigned learning environments using technology
and examines issues related to their development and implementation.
The
MERLOT Journal of Online Learning and Teaching (JOLT)
is a peer-reviewed, online publication addressing the scholarly
use of multimedia resources in education.
Association
of College and Research Libraries (ACRL)
ACRL, a division of the American Library Association, is a professional
association of academic librarians and other interested individuals.
It is dedicated to enhancing the ability of academic library and
information professionals to serve the information needs of the
higher education community and to improve learning, teaching,
and research.
Coalition for Networked Information
(CNI)
This is an organization dedicated to supporting the transformative
promise of networked information technology for the advancement
of scholarly communication and the enrichment of intellectual
productivity. Its members include 200 institutions representing
higher education, publishing, network and telecommunications,
information technology, and libraries and library organizations.
EASI (Equal Access to Software and Information)
EASI's mission is to serve as a resource by providing information
and guidance in the area of access-to-information technologies
by individuals with disabilities. EASI stays informed about developments
and advancements within the adaptive computer technology field
and spreads that information to colleges, universities, K-12 schools,
libraries and into the workplace.
EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance
higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information
technology. Membership is open to institutions of higher education,
corporations serving the higher education information technology
market, and other related associations and organizations.
Led
by more than 200 U.S. universities, working with industry and
government, Internet2 develops and deploys advanced network applications
and technologies for research and higher education, accelerating
the creation of tomorrow's Internet.
MERLOT is an open resource designed primarily for faculty and
students of higher education. Links to online learning materials
are collected here along with annotations such as peer reviews
and assignments. You can add to the collection, browse it, and
organize it for your own use. Individual membership is free. Institutions
and systems are encouraged to subscribe and thereby take part
in the peer-review process. MERLOT sees this as the best way to
involve faculty in productive use of, and contribution to, these
materials.
National Institute for Staff
and Organizational Development (NISOD)
For 26 years, NISOD's worldwide consortium has been dedicated
to the professional development of faculty, administrators, and
staff, and to the continued improvement of teaching and learning,
with the ultimate goal of student success. More than 600 community
colleges around the world are NISOD members, including almost
every large community college district, the majority of urban
and technical colleges in the United States and Canada, and more
than 200 small, rural colleges around the world. NISOD's annual
conference is the largest to focus specifically on the celebration
of teaching, learning, and leadership excellence.
POD
The Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher
Education provides support and services to those interested in
faculty development through conferences, newsletters, publications,
and consulting.
The
Alliance for Technology, Learning, and Society (ATLAS) is an innovative,
campus-wide institute at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
ATLAS broadens the benefits of the information age by providing
multidisciplinary curricular, research, and outreach programs
that integrate information technology with a wide variety of disciplines
and people, both inside and outside the university. ATLAS' vision
is to provide "Information Technology (IT) for All."
The Campus Computing Project
Begun in 1990, The Campus Computing Project is the largest continuing
study of the role of information technology in American higher
education. The project's national studies draw on qualitative
and quantitative data to help inform faculty, campus administrators,
and others interested in the use of information technology in
American colleges and universities. The US Campus Computing Project
also provides the foundation for affiliated research projects
in other nations, including Brazil, Canada, China, and Hong Kong.
The Collaboration for the
Advancement of College Teaching & Learning
The
Collaboration for the Advancement of College Teaching & Learning
is a regional membership organization that supports and promotes
outstanding college teaching and learning at public, private,
and tribally-affiliated colleges and universities. The Collaboration
offers programs and services that provide professional support
and renewal for those who want to enhance student learning through
involvement in an inter-institutional and interdisciplinary community
of peers; identify trends and issues that affect teaching and
learning and prepare faculty and staff to meet them; identify,
disseminate, and foster effective approaches to teaching and learning,
both in and outside the classroom, and to related areas of faculty
and staff development; and engage members of the academic community
in the collaborative, scholarly examination of their practice
as teachers.
The League for
Innovation in the Community College
Founded in 1968, The League is a nonprofit international organization
dedicated to catalyzing the community college movement. This organization
hosts conferences and institutes, develops Web resources, conducts
research, produces publications, provides services, and leads
projects and initiatives with member colleges, corporate partners,
and other agencies in their continuing efforts to make a positive
difference for students and communities.
The National Teaching and Learning Forum
The National Teaching and Learning Forum began publication in
the fall of 1991 as a joint venture with the ERIC Clearinghouse
on Higher Education. The Forum's pages cover the latest findings
of cognitive psychology on attention span and their practical
implications for teaching and the format is an on-line "conversation
about teaching and learning" edited by James Rhem.
The
TLT Group is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to motivate
and enable institutions and individuals to improve teaching and
learning with technology, while helping them cope with continual
change.
WebAIM
Web Accessibility In Mind (WebAIM) is a non-profit organization
within the Center for Persons with Disabilities at Utah State
University. WebAIM's mission is to expand the potential of the
Web for people with disabilities by providing the knowledge, technical
skills, tools, organizational leadership strategies, and vision
that empower organizations to make their own content accessible
to people with disabilities.
Western Cooperative for Educational
Telecommunications
WCET - the Western Cooperative for Educational Telecommunications,
founded by the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education
in 1989, is a membership-supported organization open to providers
and users of educational telecommunications. Members represent
the higher education community, nonprofit organizations, schools,
and corporations. WCET's members span the globe, but most are
in the U.S. WCET conceptualizes new institutional frameworks and
delivery systems, assesses the potential of new technologies and
learning resources, explores the needs of tomorrow's learners,
and proposes appropriate public policy directions.
