Administrative Units’ Assessment Processes

All administrative units on campus conduct outcomes assessment of their processes and products. Administrative units are defined as those units (excluding academic programs) under the leadership of the Executive Officers. Examples of Assessment of NCSU Administrative Units

  • The Academic Support Programs in the Division of Undergraduate Academic Programs (DUAP) have some administrative units such as Cooperative Education and Advising Central. These units are assessed according to processes defined by the Offiice of Assessment within DUAP and include direct and indirect assessment methodology of student learning outcomes and processes, as appropriate.
  • The Department of Athletics surveys graduating athletes about their experiences with and suggestions for coaching, development, and support programs.The Academic Support Program for Student Athletes conducts additional assessments including interviews with students, advisors, and trainers.
  • The Office of Equal Opportunity ongoing assessment methods include surveys and feedback mechanisms about the unit’s functions.
  • The Finance and Business Division has ongoing assessment.  Within this division each major unit conducts assessment, for example, the Human Resources Division conducts regular assessments of its employee training and development programs. Tthe Facilities Division uses a number of methods to assess its performance including customer and project satisfaction surveys.
  • The Office of International Affairs, including the Study Abroad programs, conducts assessment through surveys from students and faculty participating in study aboard. Their assessment plan and some of their data is available online.
  • The division of Research and Graduate Studies units evaluates their services and support processes using multiple methods. The Graduate School's assessment plan shows evaluation of the administrative aspects of the Graduate School.
  • University Planning & Analysis regularly conducts assessment with the faculty and administrators who use the provided data and services. UPA assesses what their clients need, how they need it, and how well UPA's reports, website and services fill those needs.
