Results of SACS
Visit
On Thursday, March
25, NC State concluded a three-day visit from a visiting committee representing
the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The committee reviewed the University’s compliance with accreditation
standards, including our plan for “Learning in a Technology-Rich Environment”
(LITRE).
Chancellor Fox is pleased
to announce that the visit constituted a very positive review. The committee will recommend to SACS’ Commission
on Colleges that NC State complies with all standards related to assessment,
although we are encouraged to keep working on assessment as it will
only become more important to us.
The only remaining
task to be completed is to clarify the overarching goals of the LITRE
plan, illustrating clearly the integration of specific LITRE projects
within our planned commitment to improved student learning enabled by
technology. The SACS Commission will consider the visiting
committee’s recommendations and act on NC State’s reaffirmation in December
2004.
